श्रीलंकाई तेज गेंदबाज लसिथ मलिंगा ने इंटरनेशनल क्रिकेट को अलविदा कह दिया । मलिंगा ने शुक्रवार को बांग्लादेश के खिलाफ खेले गए वनडे मैच के बाद क्रिकेट से संन्यास ले लिया । क्योंकि ये मैच मलिंगा का विदाई मैच था इसलिए इसके टिकट काफी पहले ही बिक गए थे। श्रीलंकाई टीम के यॉर्करमैन के इस आखिरी मैच को देखने के लिए भारी मात्रा में उनके फैंस स्टेडियम पहुंचे थे । मैच के बाद, मलिंगा को श्रीलंका सरकार की ओर से प्रशंसा के तौर पर कई सम्मान दिए गए, वहीं उन्होने भी सिंहली भाषा में अपने देशवासियों को संबोधित किया।

लसिथ मलिंगा ने अपने वनडे करियर में 226 मैचों में 28.87 के औसत से 338 विकेट चटकाए हैं।
उनका इकॉनमी रेट 5.35 का रहा । मलिंगा ने वनडे में तीन बार हैट्रिक भी ली है । जिसमें से दो हैट्रिक उन्होंने विश्व कप में खेलते हुए ली । हालांकि मलिंगा का टेस्ट करियर ज्यादा दिन नहीं चला और उन्होंने 2010 में ही इस फॉर्मेट से संन्यास ले लिया था । लसिथ मलिंगा ने मात्र 30 टेस्ट मैच खेले हैं जिनमें उन्होंने 33.15 के औसत से 101 विकेट लिए हैं। जबकि 73 टी20 मैचों में 19.70 के औसत से 97 विकेट चटकाए हैं। इस दौरान उनकी इकॉनमी 7.29 की रही। मलिंगा आईपीएल में
